Welcome to GenCV, an AI-powered career tools platform designed specifically for Indian students and job seekers. By accessing or using our services, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service.

GenCV provides email generators, cover letter creators, and resume building tools powered by artificial intelligence to help you in your job search journey.

These terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and GenCV. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use our services.

GenCV operates in two distinct modes:

BYOK Mode (Bring Your Own Key): You provide your own OpenAI or Google Gemini API keys. In this mode, you have unlimited free usage, and your API keys are stored only in your browser's local storage. We do not have access to your API keys or usage data.

Platform Credits Mode: You purchase credits from GenCV and use our API infrastructure. Pricing: ₹5 per email/cover letter generation, ₹10 per resume export. Credits are non-refundable and do not expire.

You may switch between modes at any time. When using Platform Credits mode, authentication is required.

BYOK mode does not require account creation. Platform Credits mode requires registration with a valid email address.

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials. You agree to notify us immediately of any unauthorized access to your account.

You must be at least 16 years old to create an account. By creating an account, you represent that you meet this age requirement.

One person may not maintain multiple accounts for the purpose of circumventing pricing or usage limitations.

You agree not to use GenCV for any unlawful purpose or in any way that violates these Terms.

Prohibited activities include but are not limited to:

• Generating false, misleading, or fraudulent content

• Impersonating another person or entity

• Attempting to reverse engineer, decompile, or hack our services

• Using automated scripts or bots to access our services without authorization

• Uploading malicious files or content containing viruses

• Generating content that is defamatory, obscene, or violates third-party rights

• Reselling or redistributing our services without explicit permission

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate this policy without refund.

Content You Provide: You retain ownership of all content you upload (resumes, job descriptions, personal information). By using our services, you grant us a limited license to process this content solely for the purpose of providing our services.

AI-Generated Content: Content generated by our AI services is provided to you for your personal use. While we claim no ownership of the generated output, you are responsible for ensuring the accuracy and appropriateness of AI-generated content before using it.

Platform Content: All software, designs, text, graphics, logos, and other materials on GenCV are owned by us or our licensors and are protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws.

You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works of our platform without explicit written permission.

Payments are processed through Razorpay, our authorized payment gateway. We accept credit cards, debit cards, UPI, and other payment methods supported by Razorpay.

All prices are listed in Indian Rupees (₹) and include applicable taxes.

Credits are added to your account immediately upon successful payment.

Credits are non-refundable except as required by law or in cases of service failure on our part.

We reserve the right to modify pricing with 30 days' notice. Changes will not affect credits already purchased.

Resume exports include a 30-day free re-download window. After this period, a new ₹10 charge applies for additional downloads.

BYOK Mode: All data (API keys, resumes, generated content) is stored only in your browser's local storage. We do not have access to this data. Clearing your browser data will permanently delete this information.

Platform Credits Mode: Your resumes and generated content are stored securely in our database. You may delete this data at any time from your dashboard.

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. Upon account deletion, your data will be permanently removed within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.

Generated resume HTML is stored for re-download purposes during the 30-day free window.

Our services use third-party AI models (OpenAI GPT, Google Gemini) to generate content. AI-generated content may contain inaccuracies, inconsistencies, or inappropriate suggestions.

You are solely responsible for reviewing, editing, and verifying all AI-generated content before use. GenCV is not responsible for any consequences arising from the use of AI-generated content.

We do not guarantee that AI-generated content will meet your specific requirements or result in job offers or career success.

AI models are trained on large datasets and may occasionally produce biased or unexpected outputs. We encourage users to review content critically.

We strive to maintain 99.9% uptime but do not guarantee uninterrupted access to our services. Scheduled maintenance will be announced in advance when possible.

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any aspect of our services at any time with reasonable notice.

Third-party AI provider outages (OpenAI, Google Gemini) may affect service availability. We are not liable for disruptions caused by third-party services.

Beta features may be introduced with limited functionality and stability. These features are provided 'as-is' without warranties.

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, GENCV SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF OUR SERVICES.

Our total liability for any claim arising from these Terms or our services shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or ₹5,000, whichever is less.

We are not responsible for:

• Job application outcomes or employment decisions based on our generated content

• Errors, inaccuracies, or omissions in AI-generated content

• Data loss due to browser storage limitations or user actions

• Third-party API provider failures or rate limiting

Some jurisdictions do not allow limitations on liability, so these limitations may not apply to you.

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless GenCV, its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including legal fees) arising from:

• Your violation of these Terms

• Your use of AI-generated content

• Your violation of any third-party rights

• Your provision of false or misleading information

You may terminate your account at any time by contacting support or using account deletion features in your dashboard.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, engage in fraudulent activity, or for any other reason at our sole discretion.

Upon termination, your right to access our services ceases immediately. Unused credits are forfeited unless termination was due to our breach of these Terms.

Sections regarding content ownership, liability limitations, and indemnification survive termination.

These Terms are governed by the laws of India, without regard to conflict of law principles.

Any disputes arising from these Terms or our services shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of courts in [Your City/State], India.

Before filing any legal action, you agree to attempt to resolve disputes through good-faith negotiation for at least 30 days.

If you are a consumer, you may also have rights under Indian consumer protection laws that cannot be waived by these Terms.

We may update these Terms from time to time to reflect changes in our services, legal requirements, or business practices.

Material changes will be notified via email (for registered users) or prominent notice on our platform at least 30 days before taking effect.

Continued use of our services after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

If you do not agree to updated Terms, you must stop using our services and may request account deletion.

Entire Agreement: These Terms, along with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and GenCV regarding our services.

Language: These Terms are provided in English. In case of translations, the English version prevails.
